EEA Member Spotlight
EEA Leads The Way On Labor Day!
As you can see in the photo of Carrie and Katherine below, the EEA quite literally led the way at PSEA's Annual Labor Day Parade March. Nearly 100 of our fellow PSEA Members and Staff from around the Northwestern Region started their morning with doughnuts and ended it with a hell of a show of camaraderie and solidarity paraded through the streets of Downtown Erie. Erie EA far and away led the charge in terms of members present and engaged, which really made an impact on PSEA Vice President Jeff Ney, Region President Jan Pearson, Region ESP President Robin Evans, and Aspiring Educator President Gavin Mitsdarfer. Great job, everyone! Next year? Grab a friend and join us for an even BIGGER turnout!
Meet The New Crew!
As we enter into a new year and a new era in EEA operations, we count ourselves as fortunate to have so many great people who want to contribute - and are stepping up to do so. To make you aware of those members working to support you, we'd like to showcase them here as an introduction of sorts. Please join us in welcoming them to the EEA as we thank them for their service.
Diva Ricart - Member Benefits Chair
Diva is a transplant from Miami, Florida and teaches both Read 180 and Social Studies for Newcomers at East Middle School. Now in her second year teaching in Erie's Public Schools, Diva brings a wealth of experience from her time in the private sector to bear as our new Member Benefits Chair - not only here in the EEA, but also in the Northwestern Region as Region Member Benefits Chair. We're thrilled to have her here in Erie and delighted that she's taking on this role for all of us. Welcome, Diva!
Katherine Mulokey - Corresponding Secretary
Like Diva, Katherine is relatively new to Erie having moved here from Northern Virginia a few years ago in the hopes of finding a teaching job. She landed one here with us in Erie's Public Schools, and has been a force ever since. Signing on most recently as the new EEA Corresponding Secretary, Katherine also serves at the Region level as ACE (Advocates for Children in Education) Chair and PACE Alternate Chair. When you get those emails telling you of certain meetings coming up? Here's the face to place with the name. Great to have you here, Mulokey!
Dan Walk - PACE/Legislative Chair
Dan has been with us for several years now, and, now that we have this tremendous new capability for a functional website, it's time he got his due. Dan is keenly invested in politics and the political arena and is a tremendous fit as our PACE/Legislative Chair. Like Diva and Katherine, Dan is also pulling double duty with the region, serving as Co-Chair of the NWR Legislative Committee where he invests heavily in the dissection and exploration of proposed legislative bills in Harrisburg to vet their value for public education. Thanks for everything you do, Dan!
